Abstract:
The sums spent by the world on cybersecurity are growing rapidly, yet the losses in time and money are growing even more rapidly. This presentation argues, first, that a large part of the cybersecurity problem stems from the fact that we are engaged in a cyberwar. Furthermore, it is clear that our current approaches to cybersecurity are not making us more cybersecure. This paper argues that we must return to fundamental principles to reconceptualize how we practice cybersecurity if we are to do well in the cyberwar. This presentation presents four fundamental principles that can help us be more cybersecure.
